Alison Krauss
The initial wave of public recognition was for bluegrass musician Alison Krauss in 1990 when at age 19 years old, she was able to walk away at the Grammy Awards with the trophy for Best Bluegrass Album. It was an accomplishment not only because of Krauss's age but also because the album which won her the award, I've Got That Old Feeling It was actually the third in Krauss's collection. Too Late to Cry was her first album, released around the Champaign Illinois local's age, sixteen. She had already signed with Rounder Records, one of the leading folk labels at the age of fourteen. The accomplishments of Krauss at this young age, as much as her ability to play the guitar, were consistently recognized by the fact that she has remained faithful to bluegrass - one of America's most enduring as well as least-appreciated genres of music. Krauss at one time young phenom had developed into an accomplished musician as well as a producer.
